Welcome
Whether a veteran 8th grade parent, a more relaxed 7th grade parent, or the slightly anxious parent of a 6th grader, you are invited to be an active part of an exciting year at West Millbrook Middle School. The WMMS PTA is committed to providing programs that enhance every aspect of the educational experience: our fine Cultural Arts Program, Career Day, Accelerated Learning Program, programs that support other student activities, including team sports.

PTA Board Meetings
The WMMS PTA holds board meetings the second Tuesday of every month, and all interested parents and staff and cordially invited to join us. The meetings are at 7pm in the Media Center. PTA Board Roster

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer opportunities abound! The following committees are on the lookout for volunteers:

Athletic Booster Club, Book Fair, Career Day, Chaperones, Eighth Grade Dance, End of Grade Test Proctors, Fundraising, Hospitality, Media Volunteers, Membership, Newsletter, and School Pictures.

A PTA volunteer form will be posted in this space shortly. In the interim, please drop by the school office and complete the WCPSS volunteer information form that is only available via the WCPSS inTRAnet.

Communications
The PTA will continue to send the bright yellow “Wildcat News” home each Monday, full of up-to-date calendar information, volunteer needs, messages from the WMMS administration, and articles about what’s happening at West.

$$$ Fundrasing Made Easy!

The PTA is very pleased to have partnered with Schoolheart for our fall fundraising efforts. This company offers The hCard® as an easy hassle-free way to raise funds for our school. The card can quickly pay for itself with the many discounts from both local and national retailers, prescription drugs, access to hundreds of grocery coupons and free roadside assistance! There are great sales incentives for our students too! Be sure that you reference your student’s name and homeroom teacher in the “section id” portion of the online form at purchase. Our PTA “No Fuss Fundraiser” is simple and straightforward. We are asking EVERY family to simply give what they can… no amount is too small or too great …we’ll take it! Our goal is to raise $7,000 before December 21 st . Economic times are tough, but we need your support now! There is nothing to sell to neighbors, co-workers, friends, or family….no doors to knock on, no tally sheets to keep, no wrapping paper, popcorn, or fruit to deliver during the busy holidays.

Send in your TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation to WMMS PTA. Mark your envelope “Fundraising”
and send it in with your student to the front office or mail it to: WMMS PTA, 8115 Strickland Road, Raleigh 27615.

Let us know if your employer will double the amount you donate -- we will complete the paperwork for you. Also, we will send tax- deduction receipts for anyone who requests it, just in time for your year-end giving! Thanks in advance for your support!

SHOW YOUR CHILDREN YOU CARE ABOUT EDUCATION! JOIN THE WMMS PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA)!

Study after study has shown that when parents are involved in their children's school, their children get better grades and have fewer behavior problems. Joining the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is an easy way to get involved at West Millbrook.

• COMMUNICATION: At the monthly PTA meetings, you can talk with WMMS teachers and administrators, hear what's going on at school, and give your input.

• VOLUNTEERS: No matter if you work fulltime, have small children at home, or prefer to work alone .... there's a volunteer job for any circumstance! Through the PTA, you can hear about many ways to help make West Millbrook a great place for your child's education.

• FINANCIAL SUPPORT: Your membership dues give the PTA money for many fun and enriching programs at West Millbrook. All your contributions are tax-deductible. Membership levels cost from $6.00 to $100, and all but $2.75 stays right at WMMS for your child's benefit! Premium Level Memberships ($25 to $100) are an easy way to provide even more funding for WMMS programs.

Please note: Each school’s PTA is a separate organization, so your PTA membership at another school DOES NOT support West Millbrook. PTA Memberships lasts for one year. Only $2.75 of your PTA membership dues is sent to State & National PTA; the rest stays at West Millbrook!
