NEXT SCHOOL YEAR'S  PTA OFFICERS -  West Millbrook PTA is happy to announce its elected officers for next school year:  President -- Dawn Clark; President -Elect (empty); Vice President Volunteers -- Meg Lavoie; Vice President Fundraising -- Anne Rogers; Treasurer -- Kim Miller ; and Secretary -- Julie Sauls.  PLEASE NOTE, the President- Elect is still open.  Please contact Dawn Clark by email (bentoddsam@nc.rr.com) if you are interested in serving as the next President of PTA.

Welcome
Whether a veteran 8th grade parent, a more relaxed 7th grade parent, or the slightly anxious parent of a 6th grader, you are invited to be an active part of an exciting year at West Millbrook Middle School. The WMMS PTA is committed to providing programs that enhance every aspect of the educational experience: our fine Cultural Arts Program, Career Day, Accelerated Learning Program, programs that support other student activities, including team sports.

PTA Board Meetings
The WMMS PTA holds board meetings the second Tuesday of every month, and all interested parents and staff and cordially invited to join us. The meetings are at 7pm in the Media Center.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer opportunities abound! The following committees are on the lookout for volunteers: Athletic Booster Club, Book Fair, Career Day, Chaperones, Eighth Grade Dance, End of Grade Test Proctors, Fundraising, Hospitality, Media Volunteers, Membership, Newsletter, and School Pictures.

A PTA volunteer form will be posted in this space shortly. In the interim, please drop by the school office and complete the WCPSS volunteer information form that is only available via the WCPSS inTRAnet.

Communications
The PTA will continue to send the bright yellow “Wildcat News” home each Monday, full of up-to-date calendar information, volunteer needs, messages from the WMMS administration, and articles about what’s happening at West.

SHOW YOUR CHILDREN YOU CARE ABOUT EDUCATION! JOIN THE WMMS PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA)!

Study after study has shown that when parents are involved in their children's school, their children get better grades and have fewer behavior problems. Joining the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is an easy way to get involved at West Millbrook.

• COMMUNICATION: At the monthly PTA meetings, you can talk with WMMS teachers and administrators, hear what's going on at school, and give your input.

• VOLUNTEERS: No matter if you work fulltime, have small children at home, or prefer to work alone .... there's a volunteer job for any circumstance! Through the PTA, you can hear about many ways to help make West Millbrook a great place for your child's education.

• FINANCIAL SUPPORT: Your membership dues give the PTA money for many fun and enriching programs at West Millbrook. All your contributions are tax-deductible. Membership levels cost from $7.00 to $125, and all but $3.50 stays right at WMMS for your child's benefit! Premium Level Memberships ($30 to $125) are an easy way to provide even more funding for WMMS programs.

PLEASE JOIN! Just complete the PTA form at this link (PDF file) and return it in an envelope with your membership dues in cash, or checks made payable to "WMMS PTA" by mail: WMMS PTA Membership; 8115 Strickland Road; Raleigh, NC 27615; OR send it with your student to his/her homeroom teacher.

Please note: Each school’s PTA is a separate organization, so your PTA membership at another school DOES NOT support West Millbrook. PTA Memberships lasts for one year. Only $3.5 of your PTA membership dues is sent to State & National PTA; the rest stays at West Millbrook!
