Beta Club Continues Operation Christmas Child Service Project
Please plan to
do some early holiday shopping! Why?
The Beta Club is continuing the West Millbrook Operation Christmas Child
tradition.
This year, Samaritan's Purse staff and partners will hand-deliver more
than 7 million shoe box gifts to hurting children in more than 90 countries
on six continents, including the United States. By participating in
this project WMMS students experience the joy of giving in a way that
fund-raising
projects alone don't allow.
How can you help? During the week of November 14 - 18, please send
standard-sized shoeboxes, holiday wrapping paper, and small items that
our students
can pack into the shoe boxes . (Feel free to send pre-wrapped shoe
boxes with separate lids!) A large collection box will be placed in
the front
office. Students can also bring items to the 305 computer lab. Our
Beta Club students will pack the boxes on Friday afternoon, November
18.
Suggested gifts: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, yo-yos,
music and noise makers, school supplies, coloring books and crayons,
pens,
pencils with sharpener, hygeine items such as toothbrush, toothpaste,
mild bar soap, comb, washcloth, etc. Also, hard candy, mints, gum,
sunglasses, flashlight with extra batteries, ball caps, tee-shirt,
socks, toy jewelry,
hair clips, small picture books, etc.
Please
do NOT send: used or damaged items, war related items, liquids or lotions,
breakable items such
as snow globes or glass containers, aerosol cans, chocolate or food.
If you would like to send a filled shoe box, please secure the lid
with a strong rubberband and note on the lid that your gift is for
a girl
or boy, along with the age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14.
